Friday Five

This week was crazy busy, with audits, a sunblock meltdown  and rising temperatures, it made for a quick week. Hearing about the horrific attack in Nice has me ugly crying again, it's awful! Just awful.

But I am here and I'm alive, and need to cope. So, I am linking up with  Courtney, Mar, and Cynthia for the Friday Five. And I'm doing 5 Totally Random things... because my week has been random.

1. I'm looking forward to getting a haircut this weekend. I've been putting it off for months.... Back in December I read this post from Meranda in Fairytales and Fitness, it sounded so familiar! But I continued to put off the haircut. Until two weeks ago, when I decided the hair needs to go.

The current hair... stay tuned for the "after". I'm debating dying half of my hair blue!

2. I caught Mile fever! I'm running the 1 Mile race in Harrisburg next week. I didn't train for it, but I should be a hot and fun thing to do.

3. This Cinnamon Twisties always make my Friday mornings so yummy! Roger said I need more protein, but right now I just want carbs.

4. 12 Zumba days at AIMF left. I'm excited for this Saturday's zumba! and at the same time sad. Whey they close, my Saturday mornings will be empty.

5. One question for runners: How do you add more protein to your diets? I eat meat, beans, greek yogurt, cheese, eggs, protein pasta... but I feel weird asking my coffee shop for protein in my smoothie... maybe it's because the girl who works there is a professional body builder.

More questions:
How was your week?
Any tips on running a 1 mile race?
Any fun plans for the weekend?
When was the last time you got a haircut?
What is the longest you have gone without a haircut?

  1. Haha, you remembered that post! It's so true, so much gets put on the back burner because of running. Not only is it time consuming but when we're not running we're just to darn tired to do anything else. Or at least I am! Nice hair cut. Glad you made yourself a priority!

  2. Thank you Meranda, you are too kind, that's the current hair.. stay tuned for the after next week!

  3. I just got my hair cut a couple weeks ago. Really sort. One of those cute hairstyles where it's longer in front and shorter in back. Now I can barley make a ponytail. It's short, but still a little on my neck, but it has to get off my neck for hot humid summer runs.

  4. Ooh! an inverted bob sound very cute Heather! My sister has her hair that way! That is the perfect way to keep the hair off your neck!

  5. I'm so bad about getting my hair cut. I go every 4 weeks for color but since I wear my hair back in a ponytail most of the time, I don't notice it getting longer. I'm getting it cut in 2 weeks. I can't wait.

  6. First of all, you are beautiful and you have that look that you could totally dye your hair partly blue and pull it off! I have a friend that regularly does weird stuff to her hair but she just has that FACE and that LOOK and she can do it.

The longest I went without any sort of haircut was over a year. It was badddd! I am sure there is a picture on my blog from last spring somewhere!

I have run the Harrisburg Mile a couple times! I don't have any tips. That race is so damn short that it flies by in an instant! My one advice would be don't let the heat/humidity psych you out. My PR in the mile is from 2013 I think and it was one of those scorching hot summer nights, but I seriously didn't notice it while it was running. I remember my mouth being dry, that is all. But hey, I can deal with a dry mouth for 1 mile!

    1. Thank you Megan! I am going to experiment with blue hair later this summer!

I am going to have to stalk your blog for a picture of you with long hair.

  7. I just got my hair cut after putting it off for an additional month. My stylist knows me, so she tells me come back in 3 months, knowing that I'll forget and procrastinate and come back in 4.

I add protein powder to my greek yogurt with fruit/nuts/granola in the morning. Breakfast is my most consistent meal, so it helps make sure I get some protein during the day. I also like keeping almonds for a little afternoon snack.

  8. I had a haircut in late May and chickened out of a big change - going shorter. I hate styling my hair in summer and like to just tie it back, and I remembered too that the last time my hair was short I was bored by it quickly. But I'm bored by my current style! I need something new- I considered going purple! I'd like to see the blue on you :)

I think short hair would look good on you!
