Pittsburgh Great Race 10K- Recap

Image
This is from the Race that took place on September 24th. I'm behind on recaps.... I know what you are thinking "Sit still and write your recaps chica!" But I hope you know that, I have a hard time sitting still. I am a sucker for a great price on a race! Last year a local running friend put it on FB that Registration for the Great Race for $15 on December 31st ! I put it on my calendar and signed up for me and Roger. He didn't appreciate it very much when I reminded him the week before... but it's not my fault he didn't remember. Race Details Cost : $15 (Registered in December 31st). Goodies: Woman's cut, long sleeve tech shirt, in black! I love all of this shirt! Post race treats: oranges, bananas, Eat and Park cookies, and anniversary medal. Conditions: Started at 65 C with humidity. Finished at 80 with LOTS of humidity. Pre Race Pittsburgh is such a great city, Why do I live so far from it? We took a shuttle to get to the start ...

Weekly Wrap Up 9.25.17

Happy Monday! I hope you had a fantastic weekend! Busy and stressful week here, so happy to have another week. Workouts: Thursday: 2 mile easy run and Zumba Friday: 3 mile easy run Sunday: Pittsburgh Great Race 10K I was scheduled to run an easy 3 miles on Monday , but had to get groceries. I just couldn't swing both tasks in one night, and I was tired and hungry when I got home. On Tuesday we watched in horror the news of the earthquake in Mexico and the hurricane in Puerto Rico. All my family in Mexico is ok, they don't leave near Mexico City, and my brother in law heard from his family and they are ok. My co-worker is still waiting to hear from her Parents in Puerto Rico, we are all very worried for them, but they are said to be ok, just surrounded by water. On Thursday I got into a really stupid fight with Roger about dishes, we were supposed to run 3 miles together, but I was really mad at him, and refused to go with him to run. I ended up running at the ...

Hershey 10K 2017 Recap

Race Details Registration : $50 ( I missed the $45 cut off) Goodies: Woman cut short sleeve tech shirt, coupons for Hershey Park, coupons for cookies, recovery lunch bag of goodies. Weather: sunny, low of 32, light breeze in some spots. The Hershey 10K was my first "big" race in 2015, so it feels a little extra special. First let me tell you a short back story, somewhat related to the race. I registered for this race back in February, and had planned to go see Cabaret with my sister in Philadelphia later that day. Not that I need his permission, but I had told Roger all about this in February. Around the middle of March, he found an aikido seminar that he wanted to go to in Erie PA, and I re-arranged my plan to go see Cabaret with my sister another day instead. This ended up being Thursday night. Because of driving to Philly and having to be at work at 8:00 am on Friday Morning, I only slept 4 hours that night. By the time I went to pick up my bib for the race, I ...

Carlisle Summer Fair 10K

Image
*Warning* I write really long race recaps, because I enjoy reliving my feelings from that day. Feel Free to read my new Abridged version at the end I found out about the Carlisle Summerfair Free 10K from my running friend Jodi, who is just the nicest runner I know IRL, and gave me all the info I needed at the last minute. This is her blog, you need to check it out! I wasn't sure that we were doing the 10K, because if my Zumba place was open, there was no way I was missing that! But the news came on Monday Morning that AIMF would be closed for Holiday Weekend. (Reducing my zumba sessions to 14 now... because I'm counting). Cost : Free Goodies: None We pre-registered and emailed our forms 3 days before. And trained for it with doing short sprints in the local park. We left for the race early in the morning on Saturday, we were up at 6:00 am, but spent a lot of time just goofing off and laughing. It was way too early on a Saturday to be serious about anything . S...
