Good Morning Internet! How is everybody doing today? I hope everybody had an awesome weekend!   I'm linking up with  Holly and Tricia for the Weekly Wrap post.   Work outs Monday - Zumba Thursday - 6 tempo miles Friday - 4 fartleck / trail miles Saturday - Morning Zumba, weights with Roger Sunday - Dewey Beach Patrol 10K This week theme was Running in all conditions.   Monday after Zumba, I met my local awesome blogger Megan, from Meg Go Run . We talked for a long time, she is a pretty awesome woman! I was very glad to meet her. That wasn't a workout, but we talked about our running and our injuries.   Thursday I ran 6 miles on light rain, after all the heat we have had running in the rain felt really good!   Roger warming up for his 4 miles Friday I joined The Fleet Feet Group to run in the Pinchot Park Trail. I wanted to try the Nike Trail Running shoes and I wanted to run at least 3 miles. The air was thick with Humidity, but 4 ...

Good Morning everybody! How are you today? I hope everybody had an awesome weekend in training.   Training   Tuesday - Weights +  HARRC Full Moon Run 3.5 miles Wednesday - Harrisburg Mile Thursday - 3 easly early morning miles   Totals : 7.5 miles   Last week my theme was sweaty and hot, and surprisingly 3 days last week were a bit cooler... like the temperatures were in the 80s instead of in the 90s.   This week, sadly, the theme was pain . Two weeks ago my calf/ankle pain started to subside. I started warming up more before my runs, but on Tuesday I started having some pain in the back of my right heel. I googled it. Some articles claimed lack of stretching my calves/ ankles. Tuesday,  arrived home to this I have a love hate relationship with suspension training... I ran with the a combination of three running groups, about 18 people were there. It was a different type of run... The run was to be 3 or so miles, with stops at thre...

3 days to the Hershey Half Marathon

The road has been long, the runs has been long, the work outs have been difficult, the injuries have been there, and now after 4.5 months of training, the Hershey Half Marathon is 3 days away. I need to do a quick mental review for myself, just to remind myself that I have done all the work I needed to do well. My Map My run said that I have done 300 miles of running, interval training, walking and hiking. 300 miles seems like such a huge number! Injuries (All self-diagnosed) Shin Splints, left posterior- I had not known pain such as that of shin splints! It came about after I increased my mileage too fast.   I went from comfortably running 3 miles to 5, almost overnight. Icing, streching and compression sleeves fixed me up. The icing helped so much more than I could imagine. Bruised rib- As I was learning how to breathe and my lungs were learning to expand while running long distances and hills I bruised my ribs. It hurt to take a deep breath for about 3 we...

The Road to the Hershey Half- 3 weeks to train

April 2015- Completed my first 10K, and survived with no major injuries! Meaning, I had shin splints for a while, but they have for the most part gone away. My grandmother passed the day after, and while grieving her passing, my heart was not into running, or really moving at all, but I forced myself to get up and go to work. Roger and I started talking about the Hershey Half Marathon, and jokingly I mentioned that it could be split up, because they offer a relay option. He could do half and I could do half. We laughing agree to split it. It would still be finisher medals for both, Hershey In the Dark tickets for both and tshirts for both. We left it at that and continued eating our French toast. May 2015. I had 3 5Ks runs that month, Kat’s Angels, Kennett Run, and the Color Run. I kept up with some of my 10K training, but wasn’t overly worried. I started doing more weights and yoga, and again Roger and I talked about the Hershey half. I don’t know why we are not capable of be...

Off the training Schedule

Aah!! It has been a long week, a wonderful weekend, but exhausting. I’m out of sync with my half marathon training and it’s beginning to stress me out a little. Here is how I came off the plan, and how I hope to correct it soon. Saturday Aug 29 I did my 10K- and got firs place female. It was awesome. I was a little tired, but rested most of the rest of Saturday and was ready to run 6 more miles on Sunday. Sunday Aug 30 I was feeling good, and rested. All ready to run 6 miles. But I made a mistake. I wore shoes that I hadn’t worn in a few runs, and I only wore one pair of socks, after having been wearing two pairs of socks, to prevent blisters… a big investment on socks is needed soon. \ I was feeling really good, considering that I had ran 6 miles the day before, and then my left toe started to feel tingly and painful. I stopped. I had the exact same experience at the Color Run in Philadelphia in 2014, and ignored it then. And the ball of my toe was never the ...
