Week In Review - Last of Vacation

Image
Happy Tuesday! how are you today? Last week was my son's last week of summer vacation and I took a few days to do the last of our summer activities. This week was jam packed with fun and some rest. Running This week my running was close to home, because Roger was helping me with watching over my son. Tuesday- Easy 3 miles. Friday- Intervals for a total of 5 miles. My son ran 1.5 miles with me. He is pretty fast, and made me run faster to keep up with him. Saturday - 3.6 birthday miles For my birthday, we went to Wissahickon Valley Park. My son ate a nutella with cookie sticks before, so he had a chocolate face. Sunday- 9 slow long in the morning and 4 slow and humid afternoon miles. I saw a Hawk hunt his breakfast during my long run. I ran loops around a 1 mile paved path, it felt like a test to my mental strength. My biggest accomplishment is that the miles got done! Mothering and Vacation We had a few things schedule for this week, and

Common misconceptions- The Color of Clothes

Ever since I can remember, I have always liked the color black. It's my most favorite color, if I had to guess an age, I would say since I was about 10. My mom hated that I wore dark colors, and would not buy me things in black, thinking that if she prohibited for me, I would eventually grow out of it... of course, this only made me want to wear black even more. This of course means that I wear black most of the time, especially at work. Some of the newer people that I work with, don't know how to deal with my wearing black all the time, and some have asked me very strange questions about it. And today, I want to clarify and laugh at some of the common misconceptions people make about me, because I wear black. This are all real questions that I have been asked. " Here, I saw this coupon for the Paranormal circus and thought this looked liked your type of thing... you know, because you wear all black, all the time "- A coworker recently said this to me, I smil

Happy Monday! how are you today ? I hope you are having a great day! It has been another busy week, and countdown is on for back to school, so we are trying to cram all the fun activities into the last week of freedom. Running Some days it feels like my body is finally acclimated to the heat, others it's just a sweat fest. No matter. At the end of my 5 mile run, there was a hawk observing the fields.  I surprised myself with running 2 out of 5 miles at a 9 minute pace, but then blew it with the other 3 and almost walked a whole mile. I made the mistake of having a bad and heavy lunch, and that ruined my run in the heat.  During the summer, my brother runs at least once with me. This time, we ran by his high school in very high humidity.  I did my 15 mile run in 3 sections of 5 miles each. It was raining for most of the 15 miles, even though I took them in turns. Due to some double scheduling on my part, I was to run 15 miles the day my son was with me f

Happy Show Us Your Books Tuesday!  Today I'm linking up with  Jana  and  Steph  for Show Us Your Books. July and August have been very stressful months at work, that always sets me back on books. I also picked up some books to read with my son. Harry Potter and the Order Of the Phoenix and Harry Potter and Half Blood Prince by JK Rowling My son and his Dad (my Ex-husband ) have been reading this book for almost 1 year, I have read the entire series multiple times and convinced my sister and Roger to read it too. Because of that, we have conversations about the series and the books and have accidentally revealed spoilers. I decided that I couldn't wait for my son to finish this book and we got the audiobook, it helps keep him off devices during long drives and gets him up to speed on the book. I, of course, love Harry Potter and have very much enjoyed re-reading Harry Potter again. I find something new every single time. The Wide Window, The Miserable Mill

Week In Review - Finding a Balance

Happy Sunday!! how is your day going?  This week was another stressful one at work, lots of work to do and training a new employee added a lot of work to my days.  Running  We are at that time of the year where no matter where, or when we run, we will be dripping in sweat. I finally went to my eye doctor and will be back at running on my contacts again ! So on my first day with contacts I ran 3 tempo miles. All the adrenaline of the excitement of my contacts gave me an extra boost and I ran 9 minute miles!  It feels I'm finally adapting to the heat, because I had another really good run on Thursday.  On Saturday we were on our way to our 4 mile run to Hershey, when I told Roger that I had a really stressful week at work, and that when stress hits, I go to my happy place, Chestnut Hill PA and imagine myself having pizza and cider at their market. and He said "We should go there after our run" and I answered " We should go there and run at Wissahickon V
