Weekly Wrap 05.07.17

Happy Monday! How was your week?

I'm  linking up with Holly and Tricia this week for the weekly wrap.

Workouts
Monday - Zumba with Cat, and weights
Saturday - Girls On The Run 5K
Sunday- 8 easy miles

This week was a slow one. Between work, baseball, rain and graduation, I was not able to get more miles in, but that's life.

On Monday the weather was calling for severe thunderstorms and wind. So I made it out to Zumba instead. The rain never came, but I still got at least something done.

On Thursday, I went out to dinner with my co-workers. I had only planned to be there for 30 minutes, and still squeeze in a quick run, but the service at this place is notoriously slow. I should have known better. Baseball took the rest of my night, and packing for the Graduation trip.

My little brother graduated from Penn State on Friday! We made the trip out to State College PA, and enjoyed some good quality family time... that's partially a lie! We enjoyed some time rushed around campus, trying to get pictures and food. I barely ate, and couldn't function very well, I'll tell you more later this week.

2 things... 1. How awesome do my sneakers look with my dress? and 2. 63% of the  family went to PSU

On Saturday my son and I were up early to do the Girls On The Run 5K. He has wanted to do this race for a couple of years, but scheduling hasn't worked out. This year he was super excited to run it, because of the medal at the end. Several things didn't go our way, but we had a lot of fun anyway. And breakfast always makes up for everything!

On Sunday we ran our last long run before the Half marathon. We were cutting it short, and I had to run 3 miles faster than planned, because I was due to pick up my son. I didn't think I had those paces in me that morning, it really surprised me.

So... Funny Story.... On Friday night, while driving back from State College, at 12:45 am... I got pulled over. My registration expired at the end of April and I kept putting off renewing it. The trooper let me go, and told me to renew my registration. Which I did as soon as I got home at 1:30 am.

On Sunday, on the way to the movies with my brothers. I got pulled over again. The cop got me for doing a "rolling stop" and gave me a fine. I was so angry!! I have seen a lot of people completely blow that sign, when there is other cars and people around, but he had to get ME! I was very angry at the world after that. Maybe that was only funny in an ironic way...

Pulled over TWICE and one weekend!! I'm a good driver, I don't drive fast or reckless, I obey all the road signs and I almost never forget to renew my registration. I guess, it was just my turn.

How was your week?
Have you gone to any graduations this year ?
Do you go out to dinner with your co-workers?
When was the last time you got pulled over?

  1. Congrats to your brother on graduating, that's very exciting!

Ugh getting pulled over twice in one week is so frustrating. I've only been pulled over twice in my entire life and both times were within the same week (and both when I was on vacation)! The second time was really weird too because the cop made me get out of the car. It was strange because I was pulled over on the highway for speeding, and I was going less than 10mph over the speed limit. It felt really excessive that he made me get out of the car!

I'm wondering too, why did he make you get out of the car?

  2. Graduations are SO BORING AND LONG. Ha ha ha. I did a road trip with my oldest kids several years ago to Saskatoon. It's a 17 hour drive, and we split it into two days. I sped through the prairies like crazy, hitting 140 km/hour (it's flat and there is NOBODY around) and when we finally were almost home, about 20 minutes from home, I rolled through a stop sign at a set of train tracks and got pulled over and fined. AHHHHH! So close. Ha ha ha!

    1. OmG! they are long and boring! The keynote speaker went on and on about something... way too long for a graduation of 500 people!

You were so close!! Those cops sometimes are just looking for people in the most random places!!

  3. No graduations for me, I don't really know anyone the right age to be graduating from anything, fine by me.

It's been a while, like 8 years, since I've been pulled over. But I still think about it, and it still makes my blood boil. I was speeding, and the cop that clocked me was on an overpass, I was passing someone and trying to get back OUT of the left lane, and then like 2 miles later, when I WASN'T speeding at all, another cop pulls me over and tells me it was because I was speeding "back there". Just doesn't seem right.

    1. Cops seems to be at all the wrong places! I see drivers flying trough the high way often, where are the cops then?

  4. I was pulled over last year for talking on the phone. I was on my way to work and I was on the phone with the office. The policeman didn't care. I was livid. I had to do that online driving course which was a torture treatment. You can't click ahead to the next slide, you have to wait for it to move ahead. Well, you know there are a lot of people who read very slowly...so I'd work on stuff while waiting for it to forward. 6 hours of that. That's enough incentive to obey the law... My son installed a bluetooth receiver in my car so now I'm hands free.

  5. Hooray for the Nittany Lion! Congrats to your brother. I've got 3 graduations coming up in 2 weeks. I don't want to jinx myself but it's been 20 years since I've been pulled over.

  6. A lot of my students were at the GOTR 5k! What did your brother major in? I think no only got pulled over 3 times. Once was leaving town and I was going too fast too early... it was still 25 but I was speeding up because I was leaving town. $110! Then I got pulled over once on the highway because they said I was speeding up.and slowing down. What was going on was that I was on empty and I was trying to tell if there was has at each exit before I would get off. They were nice. It was limje 2am and they followed me to the gas station to make sure I got gas and a coffee. The third time I was leaving a Rent cast party. I didn't drink a DROP. the cop new a party was going on and pulled me over for DRIVING TOO SLOW lol. I was trying to look for the sign to get on the highway. He asked me if I was drinking and I said no. I was hoping he'd breathalyze me but he didn't. I didn't get a ticket or anything. I think he was just looking for a drunk driver and he didn't get one.

    1. There were a lot of girls running the GOTR 5K! it was fun1

My brother majored on Industrial Engineering.

$110 for speeding hurts!! Did you get any points? You are a very cautious driver, I know that from reading your blog and driving with you, so I am glad you don't have any other tickets.

  7. I thought Monday read "Zumba with Cats" and I thought ... now that's different! LOL. Congrats to your little brother. It's always fun to get together with the family, right? I was pulled over once because my registration was going to expire in 2 days. Didn't he have anything better to do? Thanks for linking, Ana! Good luck at the race!

I do not have any graduations that I had to attend but I did go to a party for a friend of mine where both her daughters graduated from college, one with a masters and the other from nursing school.
