Friday Five 7.28.174- Runfession and Other Thoughts

Happy Friday! How is your day going?

Yesterday, as I was pushing my way through 3 file audits, I went to write the date on the file and realize it was July 27th! What! I know time is time, and it will do its time thing, but whoa! that caught me off guard!

I'm joining the Friday 5 Link up with  Running on Happy & Fairytales and Fitness and Marcia for Runfessions.

July has been an eventful and busy month, and although I was sidelined for the first week with a cold, I made up for it the rest of the month. Here are some highlights and some runfessions for the month

1. I runfess that it is so much easier to get up for a run in the summer. Between the temperature and the sun, I am 50% more likely to run in the morning in the summer... only 50%, I still want my sleep the other half.

2. Go away homework!  I love that my son doesn't have homework every day in the summer! this gives us more time to just play and spend less time where I'm chasing him with a math worksheet, and him saying he wants to quit school in second grade.... Expect for the part where he has a giant Third Grade workbook to complete...

3. Stuck in the Memories- Through my life, I go into random obsessions over songs/ artist, and I go deep! This month, I have been obsessively listening to the Mexican band Bronco. They are a legendary band from the 1990s, and their music was the soundtrack to my childhood.

Before you ask, do all Mexican band wear cowboy hats? No, only the awesome ones! This band is from Monterey, a northern state, where cowboy hats are a clothing staple.

4. Step off the scale ! Last month I told you that I had put on some weight, and that I was ok with it. Today I runfess that after that, I started to cut back on how much I was eating for lunch, and added more water through the day. Guess what, that made no difference to my weight! but while running after work, I no longer feel like I am going to die at mile 1. I guess a burrito the size of my head was no the best fuel for me! I also runfess that my lunch still includes 1 burrito per week!

5. Clothes shopping - Last week, through no fault of my own... ja ja ja! that was funny... No, last week after eating half of that giant burrito, and drinking 3 glasses of water, the button for my pants popped off! I don't remember how my pants stayed on for the rest of the day. But after fixing them, I realized my very serious need to purchase new pants for work, and a few shirts.... I runfess that whenever I am at the store, I start to look at work clothing, then I slide over to the running shorts, tanks and leggings, and end up leaving the store with a new pair of shorts and new running socks.

Who is your favorite band from back in the day?

Does anybody else dislike kids homework?

What is in your favorite type of burrito?

Do you buy more running stuff than "regular" clothes?

  1. Oh I spend WAY more money on running clothes. I think I have two pairs of shoes for regular life and a zillion running shoes!!!

  4. I think I would die if I had to help a kid with their homework! Unless it was music homework, of course! Although the only time I give homework is if the kid was wasting time in class and didn't get it done.

    1. My kid has never had music homework, so he has to be doing something right there!

I am still hoping to get a teacher that doesn't give homework, because my son and I don't have enough quality time as it is.

  5. I do that with clothes too! I keep thinking I need work clothes but somehow end up buying workout clothes instead. No idea how that happens :)

    1. If we were allowed to wear leggings and race shirts, all of our problems would be solved! but I don't think my boss would appreciate my bright shirts at the office.

  6. I was pretty happy when I went for my annual physical--I didn't gain any weight this year, in spite of Ben and Jerry's best efforts!
