Weekly Wrap- Wrapping up 2016

Happy New Year!! I hope you are having a fantastic New Year! I'm  linking up with Holly and Tricia this week, to wrap up the last week of the year.

Work outs
Tuesday- 2 miles run
Wednesday - 3 miles run and weights
Thursday - 3.65 with Fleet Feet and Zumba
Saturday - Run Into the New Year 5K
Sunday - 5 miles

Before I have you in any more suspense, I accomplished 3.5 of my last 2016 goals I set out on my Friday 5. I finished my work, ran the 5K in Rehoboth, finished reading the 4 books. I registered only for 1 race, because I used the money I had set aside for the other, on shoes and a jacket. I did not run the last 5 miles in my plan, but I'm ok with my accomplishments.

Last week was spent eating pancakes, waffles, and pizza. My son was on his break from school, and loving playing with his Christmas gifts. On Wednesday, I did have to go to the office to complete a last minute audit request, and my son came with  me to the office. He played at my desk while I worked. I wish that I could bring him to work more often!

I couldn't waste any batter and made a tiny pancake.

Thursday I joined Fleet Feet for their end of the year run, we had champagne after the run. I had a tiny sip, ( followed by 1 bottle of water ) because I still had zumba after, and if arrested for drunk driving, I could be deported back to Mexico.

We had been wanting to visit Rehoboth for Christmas for a long time, so we booked our trip to Rehoboth for the New Year, wanting to party it up on the beach. We went to dinner at this small tapas place, that had the most amazing artichoke bruschetta! it made us want to be vegetarian, but then we had chorizo with the patatas bravas and forgot all about the vegetarianism.

Checking that the ocean is still there in the winter... it was!!

The last race of 2016 was the Run Into The New Year 5K in Rehoboth, DE. I enjoyed running next to the ocean ! I'll work on a recap later this week. Spoiler alert : I was way overdressed!

We celebrated the new year with Pad Thai and Margaritas.... which I regretted when I woke up sweating and thirsty at 2 am... the Margaritas, I never regret Pad Thai (only when they put egg in it).

I'm still working on coming up with goals for the New Year, I have ideas, just need to put them in more eloquent thoughts.

How did you celebrate the New Year?
Did you race this weekend?
Do you make breakfast on days off? What is your favorite thing to make?
Do you like Artichokes?
How about Tapas?

  2. Sounds like you had a great last week of the year! I'm still figuring out my 2017 too. This was the first year since I started running that I didn't do a New Year's Day 5k. But instead, I was out at a cabin in Virginia with close friends and it was the perfect way to ring in the new year :)

    1. Yes, I love Rehoboth! it has been my favorite beach since I found it in 2011. My year is not complete until I've been there!

I burned a lot of my pancakes! my new mix is way too fluffy!! so I had to make them smaller.

  4. I've been waking up sweating every night for the last couple of weeks! Here I was blaming the steroids, but maybe it's all the wine I'm drinking?

    1. I am terrible at hydrating after drinking, so anytime I have a drink, my whole body is hot for the following 12 hours!

  5. I haven't put my thoughts or plans down yet for 2017. I'm thinking I may just wing it and see what the year brings. Seems simpler. LOL. I like to scramble eggs with cheese on weekends. Over the holidays, I got all fancy and made banana bread and sausage balls for our breakfasts. It looks so sunny at your 5k beach race! I know you enjoyed your time there. Thanks for linking, Ana. Happy New Year!

  6. Happy New Year!

We had a quiet, low-key celebration at home. My husband's birthday is January 1, so we kept things quiet.

    Love artichokes and tapas.

Hope you have a great 2017!
