VB RnR and BIH Week in Training #2

Good morning world! How is everybody doing today? I'm ok here. This Monday Morning I'm struggling with getting going, after all the coverage of the Orlando Shootings. As a "Running Blogger" I could ignore that it's happening and that it didn't affect me, but I would be lying and would make myself less human by ignoring it. It was a horrific event, a horrific act of hate towards the LGBT community and really an act of hate on all Humans. My positive thoughts are with those who are dealing with loss or injury of loved ones during this heartbreaking times. The shootings need to STOP!

This Week

Tuesday - Bunbury Concert in NYC
Friday - Day of adventure in Amish Country
Sunday - 7 miles

I am going to do a recap of my NYC trip this week, not that it will be a popular post, but I enjoy writing down the memories of the trips.

On Tuesday Morning Roger dropped me off at my office, I was going to be taking the train to NYC, and the train station is very close to my office. My siblings picked me up at Downingtown PA, and then we drove to Staten Island.

Once we got to Staten Island, we took the ferry, the subway and walked A LOT in New York City.... like 20 block or more. I didn't work out that day, but my ankles, knees and back hurt like I had run a lot.

About to get on the Staten Island Ferry

About to get on the wrong subway

Waiting to get into the Concert. The line was very long

The concert was amazing, and I had no voice left after the show was over. We walked back to the hotel. At the end of the day I had 27, 346 steps! that is the most steps I've ever had when not running or Hiking!

Wednesday, I was supposed to go to Zumba and run 2 miles. BUT, my train arrived 2 hours late, and by the time I got home, zumba had already started, and my body was done with moving. I went to bed early.

Waiting for the train to go home. Also bad news, I have discovered Snapchat!

On Thursday my entire body was sore! this is exactly how I know my age... the number of spots that hurt after a concert! my back hurt so badly, my throat was still scratchy, my ankles were sore, and so was my right toe. It took until Saturday to fully recover.

Friday was the first of 6 Fridays that I have off in the summer, and in which my son, my fiancé and I will be embarking in road trip adventures.

Friday we headed out to Intercourse Pa. We explored Kitchen Kettle Village, we did a buggy ride, and ate really good food!

Saturday was the end of Baseball season. It was a HOT HOT day! We brought popsicles for all the kids to keep cool in between innings.
Last Cheer of the season

Sunday, I had a movie date with my son, we went to see Angry Birds.

We didn't eat the nacho cheese, it was cold and gross. The staff refused to put it in the microwave, it was against their "policy"

I finally went running on Sunday afternoon. We did 7 miles for our long. There were lots of hills!

Today I'm linking up with Holly and Tricia for their Weekly Wrap post.

  1. The shootings in Orlando make me sick. What an incredibly senseless tragedy.

Anytime I've ever visited NYC, I always do a ton of walking, too! It uses such a different set of muscles than running so it can really tire you out! Isn't it funny that we can run 5 miles without a second thought, but walking 5 miles takes such a toll on the body? The concert sounds like it was a blast!!! How cool that you got to explore Intercourse, PA, too! Summer is definitely made for roadtrips with the family. =)

    1. Wendy, no, you are not old. Bunbury is a Spanish singer, mostly popular with oddballs like me. Even my brother didn't believe me that there were more people than me who listened to him.

  6. I don't blame you for recapping your travels. I sometimes enjoy having my old blog posts to go back and read a couple of years or more later when I can't quite remember what happened when or how I felt about something. Your Friday adventures with your son sound awesome!

  9. Karen, there are a few flat routes, but there is almost no point in training in those, because most races will include some hills. But that's how we like pa, hilly!
