Friday Five 8.4.17

Happy Friday! how is your day going?

I'm joining the Friday 5 Link up with  Running on Happy & Fairytales and Fitness

As school is getting closer, the last of the summer trips are happening in the next 3 weeks, and because I am going to be on the road a lot, I am sharing with you random rules and facts about what it's like to be with me on the road.

1. Driver is boss- My dad taught me how to drive, and he taught me the most important rule of being in the car. Driver is in charge of the radio, and the passengers can't complain. I have driven very far with my Dad, and he enjoys the old style regional Mexican music... on repeat. I know most of the words to all of his music.... and he has had to listen to my music while I drive.

2. I have driven almost across country. My family and I used to drive to Mexico, and my Dad and I used to take turns driving down, we would each drive for about 12 hours, then the other would take over. So I have driven from Pennsylvania to My hometown in Mexico.

3. The Best co-pilots are my sisters. Sister #3 is the best co-pilot ever! She would switch my music, open my water bottles, feed me my fries. Sister #4 is also an excellent co-pilot, she sings with me, and a long road trip requires singing.... Awesome fact Sister #4 will feed me fries to my mouth, but sister #3 will only put them within reach of my hand.

4. I have a decent driving record. I have only gotten 1 moving violation ticket, and that was for doing a rolling stop. So, I can be trusted to drive relatively safely.

5. I don't like it when others critique my driving. Roger and I take turns when we drive anywhere, but if he ever says that I'm driving too fast, I will ask him if he wants to drive instead. Once he said something about the way I made a turn. So I parked the car, and got out. Told him he was going to drive us the rest of the way. He reluctantly apologized and didn't say anything again.

What do you listen to when you drive ?

What is the furthest you have driven?

Do you have a favorite co-pilot?

Any good road trips coming up?

  1. I am quite the station changer while driving. I will hear a song and think well what if another station has a better song on it so I will go through my stations quick to see. Good thing I drive a lot by myself. I think my co-pilot would be so annoyed with that.

    1. You co-pilot would not be allowed to complain! My brother does that, the switching of the stations, it doesn't bother me. But when he wants to listen to music really loud and talk at the same time, that gives me a headache.

  2. I like that the driver is the boss of the music! Paul and I agree on a podcast to listen to. He would like to listen to music, but you know me, I'm not a music listener! Very good driving record, Ana! I got pulled over for speeding one time. I didn't get a ticket but I guess it was a citation? I owed a little over $100. It sucked. I was leaving my hometown and was starting to speed up even though the speed limit had not technically changed yet. I think it was 35 and I had started speeding up too early so I was going near 50 at that point. It was a shitty place for the officer to hide! Especially since I am not a speeder at ALL. I never go more than 5 over the speed limit, unless the limit is 65 or 70- then I don't go over it at all. THAT'S TOO FAST!!!! (I got the citation 13 years ago.)

    1. Do you both agree on what podcast to listen to? I know you are not a music listener, does Paul ever want to listen to music in the car?

Cops and their sneaky hiding !!

  3. I can't STAND driving with kids in the car (young kids) so I avoid it like the plague. I usually just listen to Callum ask me a million questions. I LOVE driving by myself though, and I'll listen to really nasty music with questionable lyrics. It helps me get my anger out. HA!

    1. Nasty music with questionable lyrics!! That's awesome! I listen to Pitbull only when I drive alone, or with my sister.

Kids are just out of control! My niece cries if we don't play her music, and she is very specific on which song she wants! Last spring, she made me listen to 3 of the frozen songs over and over!!

  4. We had the same rule in my house too, driver controls the music! And I definitely hate it when people critique my driving. No back seat driving allowed.

    1. Drivers need to be happy while they do the most important job!

  5. I agree about the driver being in charge of the radio. I remember as a kid my family would also drive down to the state of Guerrero. Where are you from? The furthest I've driven is to San Antonio.

    1. I am from Guanajuato, and I should confess that I suck at driving in Mexico! I don't know the driving rules and almost always end up in a one way street!
