Weekly Wrap- Wrapping up Summer

Hello World! How is everybody doing today? I am tired, but tired good. I know the unofficial start of fall was back a few weeks ago, but summer is always the hardest season for me to say good bye to. But as fall is only days away, I finally wrapped up my summer running season.

Thank you  Holly and Tricia for hosting the Weekly Wrap post! Linking up with these super runner ladies today.

Work outs
Tuesday- 2.5 miles on easy
Wednesday- Zumba at the Y. 15 minutes weights
Thursday- 2.5 slow miles
Friday- 4 tempo miles
Sunday- Philly Rock 'n' Roll Half

On Tuesday I had planned to run before going to soccer, but got caught up in traffic and barely made it to my son's soccer practice. So I ran after practice in Camp Hill, because there were more street lights there than on the track I wanted to run.

On Friday after getting back from school, I cuddled up with my son and we watched one of my favorite cartoons Star Versus the Forces of Evil. That show is so crazy! Star is my favorite! I am not sure why I love this cartoon, but if it's ever on TV, I'll stop and watch it with my son.

On Saturday Morning my son and I had our typical "I don't want to go play soccer" fight. My son hates getting up early, eating a good breakfast and leaving the house before 9:00 am on a Saturday. We had our same "you made a commitment to your team" talk. I know he wanted me to bribe him with a toy.... but I didn't give in. He finally got himself together and went to play a great game. His team won!

My son played with snapchap, while waiting to play.

After his game we drove to Philadelphia to pick up our stuff for the Half Marathon. Roger (aka Rundelmort) was all grumpy about having to drive to Philly to pick up the bibs... and swore AGAIN that he will not be doing a Rock n Roll Race ever again.

We enjoyed lunch at Reading Terminal Market, it was amazing! I loved the market, I want to go and spend more time there soon!

Sunday was a non stop day starting at 5:15 am. We drove to Philly for the Half Marathon, raced, and returned. I might do a recap of this race, not sure yet.

It was my sister's first half and she had an amazing time! I know it was hot, but I found the weather to be almost perfect for the race.

We recover with tacos at my Mom's....

I asked her if I could pay her to come and cook me lunch after the Hershey Half Marathon, she said I couldn't afford her, but that I was welcome to come over! Now I know that I'm not her favorite!
Ok, I"ve made this post longer than I had planned... thank you for reading to the end.

Does your mom have a favorite? Mine does, we all know it's sister #1
do you like Farmer's Markets?
What is your favorite kids' cartoon?
Where do you run when the days get shorter?

    1. The Philly RnR was amazing! I loved it! I just didn't want to take the spotlight from my sister's accomplishment.

  2. I had friends that ran rnr philly and the weather looked good! I now wish I was running Hershey since I know a lot of people who will be running. I just know I won't be ready for a half by then!

    1. Meranda, have you considered doing the Hershey Half Marathon relay? You can split it with a friend, each of you would do 6.1 or so, you get a medal too. and if you do the first half, you get to run inside Hershey park AND avoid the giaganticus hill at mile 12. Think about it...

  3. I love Star vs the Forces of Evil! We don't even have kids and just like to watch it for ourselves :) Homemade tacos sound like an amazing way to recover after the race.

  4. Ha ha! The favourite kid debate is a never-ending issue over here!!! I think it's pretty normal though. I totally feel ya with the whole dragging kids out the door in the morning for soccer thing. We usually try to hit a hot chocolate place on the way out, or something. Well, mainly for me but... ha ha!

    1. Suzy, I stopped for our hot chocolate, and wouldn't you know it... my kid then gave me a speech on how his Dad says that chocolate has too much sugar! not wanting to fight with him, I said "Fine, more hot chocolate for me!" But there were no complaints after the game.

  5. I still run outside when the days are shorter. I run in the morning so it's always dark! I feel safe in my neighborhood though.

Does your son have fun once he's at his soccer game?

I wish YOU could make ME tacos sometime! I have a feeling you're really good at it. :)

I can't believe you drove to Philly just to get your bibs!!

    1. Yes, the little soccer star had fun once it started. But getting him to the field is a lot of work.

Ja ja!! you know, I have considered changing the name of my blog to Ana Runs to The Tacos!! Yup... i'll file that under "Crazy thoughts I have during a race!"

  7. Sometimes my son doesn't want to go to football practice so I can relate! I used to watch the Smurfs all the time, but then we switched television providers and we don't have Boomerang anymore. Since then I haven't watched too many cartoons. My favorties are the ones that I grew up watching, Bugs Bunny, Smurfs, Flintstones, I don't care for the modern cartoons.

    1. Cascia, kids! They want to sign up for sports, but have to be dragged out to play!

I love the Flintstones growing up!

  8. Is there an option not to do a race recap? LOL. I always do a recap but that's because I like to review how it went. I find it helpful. I also like to read other people's recaps because there always something to learn! I hope you do one!

    Rest up!

    1. I have skipped recaps before, because I didn't have much to say about them... but Recap is up now, check it out!

  9. Good for you for not giving in to bribing your son with a toy for his soccer game! It's hard but it's really good parenting. Those tacos look AMAZING. Congratulations to your sister on her first half marathon! And while I would love to read about your RnR Philly experience, it's totally up to you on whether or not to recap, of course. I know that I always feel like I need to put together a detailed and quality recap, but I've definitely seen some bloggers write very brief recaps. Your blog, your rules!!!

    1. Thank you Emily! I tend to write very long recaps, and feel that it might bore people.. but it's up now !

The experience was definitely amazing !

  11. Wow, you had a really busy week/weekend. No wonder you're tired!

Do you ever watch cartoons these days and just think...what even is this?! They're so WEIRD and nothing like our cartoons as kids. Although ours were weird too so I guess cartoons are always that way.

    1. Ali, there is this cartoon on Disney XD that is so weird... well, there is so many, but this pickle one is freaky weird!

Ours were weird in a different way!

  12. I'd like to hear about RnR Philly. So many other people talked about how warm it was. I'm glad you didn't feel that way. Is you sister still on Cloud 9? Years ago, I watched all those cartoons with my boys. Courage the Cowardly Dog sticks out in my mind. My Mom's favorite was one of my brothers, I think. Thanks for linking, Ana!
