Five Friday - Fall Edition

Fall is here! Like any warm blooded human, I enjoy the first days of fall, the leaves changing colors, but because I'm still human, there are thing I'm not looking forward to about fall. So, today I offer you a mix of things that fall are bringing my way, and how I feel about them.

1. I am excited for all the Fall festivals we will be attending! There is The National Apple Harvest Festival next weekend where we will over indulge on apple everything! We will do our yearly visit to the Corn Maze and this year for the first time, we are going to the Harry Potter Festival in Philadelphia. I'm still debating whether or not to dress up. If I dress up, I want to be Narcissa Malfoy or  Snape.... because Narcissa's fashion is always on point ! and Snape because he is one of my favorite characters.

We will be loading up on apple pancake syrups

Apple pancakes are delicious

2.  Fall Races and Fall Running- I'm excited for the races, I have mixed feelings on the weather. I am signed up for 2 races right now, and considering 3 more.

Hershey Half Last year

3. I'm excited for Halloween ! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, and I love taking my son around the neighborhood trick or treating!

4. I am not happy about the days getting shorter. I just don't like not having the sun around as long.

So less sun is no fun, but the colors of the sunset are pretty amazing!

5. I am more than excited and ready to add hot foods to our dinner lists- Chicken soup, chicken potpie, enchiladas! But I will miss the pasta salads.

  1. I'm excited for FALL FASHION and turning my a/c and heat off for a little bit to save money! I feel like it's really soon time to turn off the a/c.

    1. oh yes! Fall fashion! I get more excited for the summer clearances! I bought my son tons of shirts at target for like $3!

I wish I could turn off my AC! Roger likes to keep the apt at freezing temp! we won't be turning that thing off until late October.

  4. I love the Fall leaves. They are so whimsical! And yes, warm foods are a lot easier to prepare because I can just stick a bunch of stuff in the crock pot or the oven and it's done!

  6. Mmm, cold weather foods are the BEST. But I'm not looking forward to the weight gain that comes with them. I can't wait for Thanksgiving, though.

I love racing in fall/winter, but only if we actually get any cool weather. I don't mind shorter days because I like running in the dark.

Okay, can I just say I wish I could go to an HP festival?! That would be so fun. I have a lot of feelings about Snape. I think he's romanticized way too much but I think the gray areas of his personality are what make him complex and a wonderful character. If I were to go to the festival, I'd be Luna or Hermione. Or Bellatrix. It would be fun to be just downright evil for a day!

    1. I am always excited for Thanksgiving!

Come on over Ali and we will go as Bellatrix and Narcissa! I agree that Snape is romanticized, but he was always one of my favorite characters, even before I read the end of the book. He is an very mean teacher, but I know this is how I would have been as a teacher... and I'm very glad that I didn't chose that career. But more than anything, I love Snape because he is played by Alan Rickman, and I LOVE Alan Rickman, I cried when he died :'~(

  7. You just reminded me our town's apple festival started today! I too adore apple pancakes. Apple anything really. The shorter days top my dislike list. So depressing.
