BIH Half Training Week 11

Good Morning World,

how is everybody doing today? I hope you had an awesome weekend!

Thank you  Holly and Tricia for hosting the Weekly Wrap post! Linking up with these lovely ladies today.

Before I get to anything else, in case you missed it, I transferred out of the Virginia Rock 'n Roll Half Marathon because of weather. It's ok, I'm over whatever feelings I had.

Training this week:
Tuesday: Run 1 mile. 1 hour of Hip Hop with Denise, weights
Wednesday: Zumba/Hip Hop with Denise and 2 miles of Sprints and track exercises
Friday: Easy 5 miles
Sunday: 13.1 miles

Totals
Miles : 21.10

Wednesday we had our last hip hop/ zumba night at Art In Motion. It was a very emotional night, we were all excited to be there, and we could also sense the sadness all over us. There were a few of us crying at the end, and I was told there would be a toast at the end of Yoga, but couldn't stay.

Friday I was back to Hershey on a Friday, it was a beautiful day!

And Sunday I ran the Half Marathon distance at a very slow pace, I was very tired. I ran through the Labor Day Festival in Harrisburg, Kipona, as they were setting up for the day. It wasn't Virginia Beach, but I still have beautiful views and perfect weather.

This Morning, this was the first thing I saw in Twitter

It made me smile and excited for this weekend.

I will be running the 5K on Friday, and the Half on Saturday morning. I asked Roger about a strategy, and he suggested to run the 5K at an easy pace, and to take walking breaks. I hope to remember that advice and not get overly excited. I have no time goals for the Half Marathon, because I know it's a hilly course.

How was your training last week?
Ready for the fall?
How was your holiday weekend?
How do YOU celebrate labor day?
Any advice for a 5K Friday, and a Half on Saturday?

  1. Those medals look awesome. Having done a few challenges, Roger is right. Take the 5k slow and enjoy the miles. And have fun for the half. I can't wait to hear about it!

  3. Those are cool medals! I'm glad you still got to run your half this weekend, even though it wasn't in VA. I spent Labor Day in bed. Ugggggggh. We were supposed to go to a pool party/picnic.

    1. I saw that you were sick last night! I'm sorry! A pool picnic would have been the best way to spend the day! it was beautiful outside!

BTW, we loved the ferry! and got our ice cream. We missed the car accident in Elizabethville by minutes!

  4. Do you get something special for doing both the 5kk and the half? Sounds like it will be a fun weekend of races and you are definitely prepared!

    1. Yes! this year it's an additional long sleeve tech shirt. Last year it was a hat, but I didn't do the half last year.

  5. I am secretly wishing that Christopher McDougall made my medal! That has me more excited than the medal itself.

That path is a beautiful trail in Hershey. Half of it is wide open, and half is in the park, which makes it shaded and cool in the summer. If you ever come to Hershey, you have to check it out!

  6. I'm very impressed you went out and ran the half marathon distance anyway! At least you had a nice day for it. The medal for the Bird in Hand half marathon is very interesting. That is a horseshoe with leather strap correct? Unique. Thanks for linking, Ana!
