Dreamers and DACA

This post is going to get political, and possibly uncomfortable. But life is already political and always uncomfortable.

Last Tuesday Morning, the president sent his Attorney General to announce the annulment of DACA. For anybody who might now know, DACA is the federal program that has allowed immigrants without a legal status in this country, to live, work and study in this country, without being threatened for deportation.

A citizen of The United States has many rights, given to them by birth in this country. They are able to work, protest, commit a crime, get a driver license, file for income tax (refunds), marry, go to college, apply for state and federal benefits, such as cash assistance, Medical assistance, social security, unemployment. Now, imagine not being able to do any of this things without being in constant fear of being kicked out of the country. Also imagine, you didn't have an option on whether or not you came to the United States, your family left your home country when you were a child, either because of poverty, crime, or political problems.

With the elimination of DACA, the president is forcing people to go back into hiding, back into living "in the shadows", and at this point, I would not be surprised if the president then starts having ICE deport Dreamers, because they already have all their information, and information for their family members.

This is not a time to  shy away from politics! People's life's are in the line. Do you ever read a Holocust book and think "I would have done SOMETHING!", well it is your time to shine and SPEAK OUT AGAINST THE ANNULMENT OF DACA!

The president has made it abundantly clear from the moment he started his campaign for office, He hates Mexicans. He hates all immigrants, but Mexicans seem to have a special place on his hate list. And people who share his hatred, voted him into office.

Things that might not be common knowledge about DACA

 * John Lennon was a dreamer- John Lennon spent time in the USA illegally, and his case was the inspiration for the immigration reform that was proposed by President Obama.

* DACA is a long, arduous and expensive process. It involves background checks, detailed information, and it's very specific on who qualifies for it.

* Not all DACA recipients are Mexican.

At this point, congress needs to pass a real immigration reform, and not just for the dreamers, but for their families. They need to be allowed them to become legal residents, allow them to come out of hiding and living in fear. Yes, by coming to this country illegally, they committed a crime, but now they are here, and it's time that congress stops telling us how much they hate them for coming here illegally, and finally allow them to contribute to our country! It's beyond overdue!

And I just ask anybody who still has doubts on allowing those illegal immigrants to stay... think back to your origins. Where did your ancestors come from? If the answer is not "I can trace my ancestry back to native Americans 100%", then you were a descendant of an immigrant. And if that ancestor had not been allowed to stay, You would likely not even exist.

My sister works for a lawyer who helps people go through the DACA process, and yesterday she sent me a message that one of their clients got an appointment to go to Ciudad Juarez to possibly get his green card. That was such a bright spot in my day, I have never met him, but I am so happy for him! One reminder that there are still little bright spots for Mexican Immigrants in this dark awful times.

  1. Donald Trump is a very sick individual who has no idea what he's doing. He did this as a political move and that is all. It's a BAD political move. He says he will only make the "best deals". Well, our country is going to lose a lot of money by taking away DACA. DACA is actually a very popular program! And it helps to prioritize. These DREAMers who register help the government know they they aren't people they need to go after for deportation and can focus on criminals. As you know, Obama deported A LOT of people. But he did try to narrow down who was deported because we simply don't have the resources to deport everyone. I have read that while Trump is deporting more people, he is deporting LESS criminals than Obama because he is just pretty much deporting anyone, without a focus on who is dangerous and who isn't. Doesn't that go against his campaign promise to get out the "bad hombres"? Oh wait, of course it does. Because he doesn't know what the hell he is doing.

I also think one of the only reasons he is doing this is because it was OBAMA'S executive order.

I was listening to a podcast on this topic yesterday and it was mentioned that if Trump really wants congress to do their job and pass a law to help the DREAMers, it doesn't make sense to take away DACA because DACA could be a transition into the law. It just doesn't help ANYTHING.

But then again, he doesn't know what he's doing. It's sick.
