Weekly Wrap And September Runfessions 10.2.16

Good Morning world!! how is everybody doing today? I hope you had a fantastic weekend!

Thank you  Holly and Tricia for hosting the Weekly Wrap post! Linking up with these super awesome ladies today.

Also linking up with Marcia for September Runfessions.

Work outs
Wednesday: 1 hour of Zumba at the Y, and 4 tempo Miles.
Friday: 9.3 at easy race pace
Sunday: 10 miles

On Monday I woke up with a sharp pain on my neck. By Tuesday it still hurt bad, so I Runfess that I didn't feel like running, because of the pain on my neck. I made up by  dancing in the kitchen alone for about 45 minutes. It wasn't a work out, but I had fun.

This was one of my dancing jams on Tuesday.

The running and zumba on Wednesday helped alleviate some of the pain on my neck.

Last year, Roger and I were looking for a 15K race, but couldn't find one that was close by. So we did our own race, and called it We Are Rungry 15K. We buy a shirt and Roger orders medals. This Friday we did the made up race for the 2nd time. It was cold, misty and windy. I came in 1st place. Roger came in 2nd.

We had a burger to celebrate after. And I Runfess that I have been eating a lot of junk since my last Half Marathon. I can't help it, everything looks so delicious! I need more spinach and broccoli in my life!!

Saturday we attended the National Apple Harvest Festival, it was awesome! I didn't want to leave.  I'll tell you more about the NAHF later this week.

We headed straight to the Pit Beet Sandwich stand
The magnets at a stand at the Apple Festival

Sunday was our last "Long Run" before the Hershey Half in two weeks. And I have one Runfession about that run. Roger normally starts out our long runs really fast, he runs the first mile fast, then he slows down after that, and I pass him, and don't see him again until we meet at the car. Well, this Sunday he stayed on my heels the ENTIRE RUN! I Runfess this was irritating me! I would speed up, so that I could lose him, but he stayed right behind me. Sometimes he does this for his speed work, he tries to stay right behind me the entire run. But he never tells me when He is doing this, and it completely throws me off.

And this week, I'm starting something new a sections I will call Mommy Rant.

Mommy Rant 10.2.16- My town will have Trick or Treat on Monday October 31st. And I find this to be really annoying. Why are we doing Trick or Treat on Monday night? It's a school night, kids are tired, parents are tired, people giving out candy are tired! For the past 10 years, Trick or Treat has been held the last Thursday of October, I don't like the new change!

Any fun Fall festivals in your area?
Who raced this weekend? <- it seems everybody was racing this weekend, and I was jealous!
When is Trick or Treat in your town?
What are you going to be for Halloween?

    1. Neck finally released on Saturday night! I did take some ibuprofen Thursday and that made it bearable!

We just won't be stopped if there is no race for the distance we need!

      The burger was delicious!

  2. Sorry to hear about the neck pain but glad that it improved over the week. I want to run the We Are Rungry 15K, too!!! Is it open to all and is there a registration limit!?!?!?!? You seriously think of the coolest ideas. I love your sense of humor, e.g. "I came in first and Roger came in second." OMG - an apple festival sounds like heaven. I can't wait to hear more details about it. If I went to one, I'd spend the entire time eating apple doughnuts, no joke. =D

    1. Emily,

we joked that we will open it to others too, and everybody just pays for their medal. NO registration limit!

I should have said he came in last place, but he wouldn't have liked that.

      Apple donuts are delicious!!

  3. I love that you all created your own race! That is so fun. Hope the race organizer got good medals & post race food. ;)

I'm going to be a grumpy old lady for Halloween. IDK when Trick or Treat is around here, but chances are good I will either make plans to not be home, or I will sit in the living room with the lights off. I'm lucky that our doorbell is broken. Dealing with small humans after a whole day of work is just too much sometimes.

    1. The medal was pretty cool! and our post race meal was our burgers, which were amazing!

Ja ja!! A grumpy lady!! I used to be the same... lock the doors, turn out the lights and avoid the kids!!

  4. I think we have trick or treating on Oct. 31, too. I agree communities should have trick or treating on a weekend, not a school night.

  5. That is hilarious you do your own 15k! You know Pinchot had a 15k this weekend that I was going to do but with all the rain I figured the trails would NOT be fun. That would annoy me too if someone was right on my heels. I can't stand to hear footsteps and breathing behind me. It makes me anxious... ESPECIALLY in races! I always forget what it is like to run with people and then I get to a race and it's like... ewww other people. :)

OKAY TEACHER RANT!!!! I hate when trick or treat is on a school night! I didn't like it Thursday and I don't like it Monday either. It should be on a Friday or a Saturday. Paul and I *might* hand out candy this year for the very first time. Last year we put a bowl on our front stoop and that was a very big step for us...

    1. Was the 15K a loop around the lake? That is a hard trail! I've only done half of it and it hurt.

Megan... that is what I think too!! EWWW People!! I'm that crazy person who spends the race zig zaging to avoid all the people.

When I lived in Chester County, they used to do Trick or treat on the last Friday of October, which was PERFECT! but everybody is doing Trick or treat on the 31st!! it sucks!

    2. The last Friday would be perfecy. The 15k is partly the lakeside trail but it does not go around the lake.

  6. I am digging that Indian Moonshine! I'm not so sure dancing to that was not a workout. Trick or treat has always been on 10/31 here. I try to get my kids finished with it before it gets dark. As they get older this becomes quite challenging.

  7. Trick or treat is always on Halloween here. We were always done pretty early. It doesn't have to be an all night thing, right?

    1. Here it only goes until 8:00 pm, but that is bedtime for my son! So in a way it feels pretty late!

  8. So fun that you both have your own race! You should try to sign up for a virtual race where they already supply the shirt and medal. Check out Gone for a Run, they usually have a few throughout the year.

So looks like Roger is getting faster! Good for him. Maybe not so much for you ? ....lol

    1. Thanks Meranda! that is what we are doing next year, i'll check out the site you recommended.

Meranda! YOu made me laugh!! you are right, he is getting faster, and I'm glad for him! I just am used to being the fast one from both of us.

  9. You are a pain in the neck. LOL. Sorry, just couldn't resist. Hope it is better now. Trick or Treat has always been whatever day Halloween falls on around here. It gets dark pretty early, so that helps. I love the tradition of your own 15k. And congrats on that win! Thanks for linking, Ana!

  10. Ha I love your made up race! I runfess last year I needed a half to run in Oct so I did the same thing except no shirt and no medal :( only the distance.
Oh wow I love those magnets! I hope you picked one up!
I'm running in a half the weekend before Halloween in New Orleans and I have yet to decide what I'm going to be! I've got to figure this out soon cause you can't not dress up. It's New Orleans for goodness sake! Thanks for linking up with us Ana.

  11. That burger looks AMAZING. I'm a sucker for a really juicy, hot, cheesy burger haha!

I hate when I run with someone and they're RIGHT on my heels, too. It drives me nuts if I can hear them breathing. In races if that happens, I surge forward to lose them, and sometimes that bites me in the end!
