Friday Five - School Year 2017-2018

Image
Happy Friday! How was your week? Mine was really tiring, especially with a short work week.  My son has finished 3rd grade this Wednesday, and today I want to go back and remember my favorite school events of the year.  Every year, I make it a point to volunteer for as many events at my son's school as I can. I enjoy going to his school and seeing him in his classroom, I also enjoy talking to his teacher and sometimes even to other parents. This were my favorite events for the school year, in order.  1. May Fair, and The Glitter Tattoos - We were born to do glitter tattoos! The school puts together a fair at the end of the year, lots of activities, rides and food, all staffed by parents. My son and I have been doing the glitter tattoos for 4 years.  2. Winter Social- It might be called something else, but it's really the holiday party. The kids are in a good mood, the teachers are in a good mood, and there is lots of food and cookies. This year, I was in charge

Week In Review- Almost Done With School

Happy Sunday!! I am very happy tomorrow is a holiday, and that we had a busy busy week.  Running  At this moment, I am not really training for any race, I want to keep my mileage at about 20 miles per week. I struggle with my running when the weather warms up, and in past years May and June are very low mileage months. This May has been high in miles and I hope to keep that going for June.  Tuesday: 4 miles with intervals Wednesday: 6 miles easy Friday- 3 Tempo miles  Sunday: 7 miles trail run  Mothering As we are getting closer to the end of the year, the school is having their last activities for the year. On Thursday, I volunteered to help out for the 3rd Grade Picnic. I helped out in the Basketball activity with another Mom, we had 5 groups of kids come by and do our activity, but by 1pm, I was ready to take a nap. But my day was nowhere near over. My son had a late baseball game, and work needed a report done that night. I was completely wiped out by 10.

Kennett Run 2018

Image
This was the 7th Consecutive year of doing the Kennett Run 5K for my sister M and I. We love this race, and as it was proven this year, will run it in any conditions!! We knew it would be raining, but we were not worried. But I did have to let my sister borrow the long sleeve shirt that I was going to change into after the race. I don't have much to say about this race, it was rainy and muddy, but I loved it. Here are a lot of pictures. This year we had a tank top option Carb loading 5 minutes before the race At the rainy start line Sister at the finish line High fives Second sister crossing the finish line Roger at the finish line Sister hiding from the rain More hiding from the rain Post run muddy shoes Post run selfie Creative ways of hiding from the rain Free Beer I have wanted to place on my age group at this race for at least 3 years. But on race day, many faster runners show up. My best time

Week In Review- The Week That Was Half Cancelled

Last week was scheduled to be INTENSE , most of my days were scheduled for something, and I was't really sure how I would accomplish all of it... read on to figure of how that mess went.  Running  Despite the rainy conditions all week, I was able to squeeze some good quality runs in this week. The one that felt the best was the Thursday run, after having been socializing for all the work day, I needed to recharge and spend some time with my own thoughts.  Monday: 4 miles fartlek  Thursday - 5 miles easy Saturday- Kennett Run 5K Sunday - 5 miles tempo (ish)  This year we ran our 7th consecutive Kennett Run 5K. It rained the entire run, and only about half of the people showed up to race, but we had a great time.  All smiles Pre-race  The Pine Grove Dam full of water A light run at Pine Grove Mothering This week I had 2 baseball games scheduled, 1 field day and 1 concert. All of which got cancelled. Enrique Bunbury, my favorite Spanish Rock singer, w

Friday Five - Before Traveling

Image
Good Morning, and Happy Friday!! It has been a busy week at work and life, but tomorrow is Saturday and a race day!!   I'm Linking up with the Friday five 2.0 ladies at  Fairytales and Fitness  and  Running on Happy  .   I love traveling and going away for the weekend, but before I leave my house, I need to prepare a few things at home. I used to not think about what things needed to be done to prepare for a return from vacation, I would be so excited to be traveling that my brain would only focus on packing for the trip. But returning from vacation is tiring, and stressful, so I make a list of things that I need to get done at my house, before going on vacation.   1. Take out the trash - I do this right as I am heading out the door. Trust me, this is the most important thing to do before going away for a few days.   2. Do The Laundry - I like preparing my work clothes for the week on Sunday, so when I'm traveling, I wash and prep everything the night before we leav

Niagara Falls Trip

Last weekend, my entire family traveled to Niagara Falls, NY. I had wanted to go for a long time, and I am glad that I finally got to it! The drive took about 6 hours, with all the stops. But we played games, listened to NPR and took turns picking music. We stopped for a bathroom break at Selinsgrove PA... and we ran into these strangers: Sister M Mom, Sister N and The Royal Baby #1 We agreed to meet for breakfast in 1 hour.  When We arrived at Niagara falls, we drove by the Niagara River Rapids, and it looked amazing! We parked the car and agreed to all meet at the Visitor Center. Roger, my son and I went to the " Official Niagara Falls" Visitor Center.  We had one of those " I am at the Visitor Center, where are YOU ?".  The rest of my family was at the OTHER visitor center.  I don't know why there is TWO visitor centers.  After we found all of the family members, we headed to see the Waterfalls. It was AMAZING!! My sist
