Training Week #5

Image
My legs are in pain right now and I want to go home and keep sleeping.... but adulting is getting on the way... you know, with having to be at work. So, last week we decided to change up the training days cycle, to adjust for longer runs. It's all complicated because of my custody schedule, and I will not bore anybody with those details, but our training week will now be a Monday to Sunday week. So Training Week #4 will now have also included the Ice Fest 5K, and 12.5 miles of running. We had warm temperatures on Sunday and Monday, and this melted a lot of snow from our running trails. Monday 2.01.16  - Rest. After those exhausting 3 miles the day before! Tuesday 2.02.16 - A little bit of everything 30 minutes of weights with Roger. Let me say that, I do the exercises he gives me, but I don't know what they are called. I only know they worked because everything is sore the next three days. 1 hour of Zumba with Susan 3 mile tempo run on the treadmill- I was ...

One dark and very cold night in January 2013, my sister and I saw that there was an Ice Fest in Chambersburg PA , a small town 1 hour from where we lived. We were intrigued by the idea of the Ice Fest, so we added one more layer of clothes and headed out! We had a great time, and swore we would go back! Sister and me with the Local weather guy Fast forward 3 years later, and we made a date to go this year! Then, while browsing the website for the events, my eyes caught the magical words 5K Run ! Yeesss!! I immediately wanted to sign up, but things didn't align until the very day of the race. My sister picked me up and we headed out to the Ice Fest and the 5K. Race price - $25 Registered an hour before the race Weather -unseasonably warm 50 degrees, sunny I am so grateful to my family for putting up with me being a runhole .... I threw this race in the plan I had made with my sister, and she was very supportive and patient to wait with me. She even took pictur...

Hiking- Summer 2015 - Part 1

Image
Ah!! Summer now seems so far away! it is dark, and rainy here right now... so fall is in full swing! Back in the summer, I remember sitting in the sun cursing at how hot it was, and then I remembered that by December, I would be wishing for a hot day. Here is to the memories of the summer hiking. May 2015- Hiking at Pine Grove Furnace - I love Pine Grove !! that park is amazing! First, it is a beautiful park, with a lot of space and things for people to do. With the big lake on one side for swimming and the beach, and the Lake on the other side for boating. We packed a picnic and sat by the beach with our food. It was quiet, but full of happy noise at the same time. We spend some time at the beach playing with the sand and a Frisbee. The day was warm, and the breeze was cool on our face. It was a fantastic day! We also went for a short walk around the rental places they have there, made us want our own home inside the park.         Wild...

When are we going Hiking again?

"When are we going Hiking again?" Asks Roger as I lay in the couch crying over Katniss volunteering for her sister, even thought I've watched this movie 6 or 7 times, and read the books 3 times, this scene still gets me. "I don't know," I answer wiping my tears away. We haven't gone hiking since we went to see Turkey Point with my sister, back in October. We have had a super busy month. Between moving, going to Florida and visiting my family; every weekend has been taken up by an activity or other. This last weekend we met up with my siblings to go see Mockinjay part 2, a date that has been scheduled since early August. and Sunday I had a 5K and a long run after. So we decided to make our long run on Sunday a trail run. Pick a park, find a trail and run it... and walk if we have to. Therefore exploring the park and nature, as we also run our miles for the week. We picked Memorial Lake State Park , and decided to cut our run to 5 miles, since the p...
