Hershey 10K 2017 Recap

Image
Race Details Registration : $50 ( I missed the $45 cut off) Goodies: Woman cut short sleeve tech shirt, coupons for Hershey Park, coupons for cookies, recovery lunch bag of goodies. Weather: sunny, low of 32, light breeze in some spots. The Hershey 10K was my first "big" race in 2015, so it feels a little extra special. First let me tell you a short back story, somewhat related to the race. I registered for this race back in February, and had planned to go see Cabaret with my sister in Philadelphia later that day. Not that I need his permission, but I had told Roger all about this in February. Around the middle of March, he found an aikido seminar that he wanted to go to in Erie PA, and I re-arranged my plan to go see Cabaret with my sister another day instead. This ended up being Thursday night. Because of driving to Philly and having to be at work at 8:00 am on Friday Morning, I only slept 4 hours that night. Date of Race : October 16, 2016 at 7:30 am. Temperatures: Cloudy, starting temperatures of 45. No wind. Race Website: Chocolate Town Challenges Goodies: Tech shirt, two tickets to Hershey Park and an $8 coupon, reusable grocery bag, recovery lunch bag. We picked up a bagel and coffee before the race, and ate while waiting for the sunrise. I had a feeling that this would not be enough, but kept reassuring myself that I would be fine. Race started promptly at 7:30. The Race I start out half marathons really slow, I want to try to save the ...

Girls on The Run 5K

Race: Girls on The Run 5K - High 5 Weather - 42, windy, sunny. Cost : $25, I registered the Friday prior to the race Goodies: a ticket to Hershey Park. Shirt- a nice cotton blue shirt. Race Website: http://capareagirlsontherun.org/ Last year I had mixed feelings about the Girls on The Run 5K. There were many things going into it, the weather was dreadful, the event felt more like a party I wasn't invited to, but crashed, and there was a lot of stopping at the beginning of the race, mostly because girls didn't tie their shoes. But I went back to do the Fall 5K this year for two reasons, One- I told my cheesesteak guy that I would do it, he said his daughter was doing the run, and I didn't want to risk losing out on Cheesesteaks! and two, I really believe on what the organization is doing! I wish that my school would have had a group to motivate me to run when I was younger. I was excited that this year the run will be in Hershey Stadium, thinking that if it rain...
