My Christmas Tree
When it comes to Christmas, the most important decoration in my house, is my Christmas tree. Before I lived with Roger, I didn't really put up more than that, because it took a lot of time. Roger puts a lot of time and energy on decorating the outside, works on the advent wreath and lights inside the house.
I love Christmas Trees and what everybody put on their Trees. For me, the ornaments say so much about our years of adventures and memories we hold dear. Here are a few or my favorite ornaments from my Christmas Tree.
I love snowflakes on my Christmas tree, I have many of them, in many colors and materials.
I don't know why, but I also have a lot of Santas.
I have this picture from 2006, when we spent our first Christmas without my Mom, she was in Mexico with my grandma. I had to make Christmas dinner that year, it was scary, but turned out ok.
There is also a few hand painted ornaments from my son's years in Pre-K.
I have a set of baby booties from Mexico. My mom brought them for my son when he was 2 weeks old. He wore them one day, threw up on them, and didn't fit in them the following week. The booties are vomit-free, I promise. This booties were not made to be an ornament, but I just loved them so much, and thought they would look amazing hanging on the tree. This is the only thing I have from when he was a baby, his father kept all his clothes and toys.
I joke that I have a bit of Rehoboth DE in my tree, because I made an ornament from sand and shells from their beach.
I am supposed to make one from Sand from Florida, but Roger threw out the sand I brought with me from our last trip.
In the picture below are a few of my favorites, Penn State Ornament, Boyd's Bear (my sons' Grandma gave it to me), and our Starbucks ornament.
And Last, an ornament dedicated to my doggy, Cordelia. She now lives with her grandparents, but I still put her ornament on my tree.
Tired of looking at my Christmas tree yet?
What is your favorite type of ornament?
Any ornament with a family story?
Have you made any ornaments?
Which is your Favorite ornament?
And my Christmas Song for today.

Aww I love this post! I agree, there are so many ornaments that tell a story or bring up a favorite memory. I have to say that I have so many ornaments now (and most of them were bought just because they "match", that I haven't bought any ornaments in years. I guess I will only have memories from years past and not be making any new ones..lol.
ReplyDeleteI love that you used the booties as an ornament! That's so special!
Thank you! I gave up with finding matching ornaments, it just didn't feel like something I could get into.
Deletesometimes, items that you were not expecting work so well for ornaments!
It's beautiful. <3 Callum wrecks our Christmas decorations, so we can't put our sentimental ones up on the tree quite yet. Maybe when he gets a bit older.
ReplyDeleteMy son used to wreck our Christmas tree when he was little! So the bottom was all the soft ornaments that we didn't care about and that he could play with.
DeleteI love how personalized your Xmas tree ornaments are and how they have so much symbolism! My favorites are the baby booties, the Rehoboth sand/shells, and the Penn State ornament. So festive!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Emily! Those are all took some work, but I love seeing them on the tree!
DeleteWow you have a lot of special ornaments. I am she the ones from your son are priceless! :)
ReplyDelete*sure
DeleteThank you! that is one of my favorites!
DeleteAwww I love your Hedwig owl! :)
ReplyDeleteYour tree looks beautiful and I looove that so many of the ornaments have special meanings. I remember as a child all of the ornaments on the tree had memories tied to them, but as an adult I never started my own collection. I'd like to though! Never too late to start, right?! :)
It's never too late to start at all! and you can decorate with anything you want!
DeleteI have a lot of Santas too. Not sure why. I also have an ornament from just about everywhere I traveled. Which means I have a lot of ornaments on my tree!
ReplyDeleteNow I need to get moving on Christmas...
Do the santas secretly sneak into our houses?
DeleteI love traveling ornaments! we don't have enough of them!
The tree usually goes up in my parent's house. I haven't put one up in years between the fact I don't have a lot of people that come by to see it and then there are the cats. My favorite ornament is a glass bulb that has a picture of me inside when I was like 2-3. I keep telling my mom that I am going to steal it one year, but it's her favorite too. Not sure if we are going to do a tree this year as we are out of town.
ReplyDeleteIt is so much easier to not have a tree! and just enjoy other's Christmas trees! less clean up !!
DeleteHey! No Christmas tree, less to clean up after the holiday and less to store!
ReplyDeleteHe goes all out for Christmas, he loves the holiday!
