Weekly Wrap: VB RnR and BIH Training Weekly Wrap #9

Good Morning Internet! How is everybody doing today? I hope everybody had an awesome weekend!

I'm linking up with Holly and Tricia for the Weekly Wrap post.

Work outs
Monday - Zumba
Thursday - 6 tempo miles
Friday - 4 fartleck / trail miles
Saturday - Morning Zumba, weights with Roger
Sunday - Dewey Beach Patrol 10K

This week theme was Running in all conditions.

Monday after Zumba, I met my local awesome blogger Megan, from Meg Go Run. We talked for a long time, she is a pretty awesome woman! I was very glad to meet her. That wasn't a workout, but we talked about our running and our injuries.

Thursday I ran 6 miles on light rain, after all the heat we have had running in the rain felt really good!
Roger warming up for his 4 miles

Friday I joined The Fleet Feet Group to run in the Pinchot Park Trail. I wanted to try the Nike Trail Running shoes and I wanted to run at least 3 miles. The air was thick with Humidity, but 4 miles got done.

Nike Trail Running shoes, I don't remember which kind. They held the trail better than my Nike Free.

I really liked the shoes, but when somebody mentioned how much they cost, I decided that I don't really need them in my life that bad.

Sunday I agreed to do a 10K with Sister #4. It was very hot and humid, but it got done. I'm very proud of my sister for completing her first 10K!

I'll do a recap later this week... *Spoiler Alert* I didn't break out into any songs.

We walked to the beach and soaked our feet for a few minutes after the race.

Injury update- the back of my right heel was still in some pain on Monday, the first mile on Thursday, most of the time on Friday and at Zumba on Saturday. But on the day of the 10K, I did not feel it at all.

But it could all be that this delicious mousse cake fixed all my pain.

Never doubt the healing powers of Chocolate

  1. It's so cool to meet blogging friends in real life :) And yay for your sister completing her first 10k! A race where you can soak your feet in the ocean afterward sounds great.

  3. Yay for running the 10K with your sister. It looked like fun and I can't wait to hear more about it.

I've had a few niggles here and there but miraculously I didn't feel it on race day! Glad it didn't bother you!

  4. I've never run a race with a family member, but I would in a heartbeat. A few years ago my Mom was training to walk a half marathon & I was going to walk with her for at least part of it. She had some personal things and injuries come up, so it never happened, but I would have loved to race with her.

I had no idea Nike had trail running shoes. I've decided I like trail running enough that it warrants its own pair of shoes, so I'm on the hunt, but I'm sure there will be some sticker shock.

    1. Jessie,

do you have outlets close to you? I am going to look at the outlets and TJ maxx for simiar nike trail shoes.

I hope your mom find a race that you both can do together!

  5. Did you stay overnight in Dewey or did you drive down just for the 10k?

    1. Megan,

I drove down, but I stayed at my parents the night before. They live in Chester County and from there it's only 2.5 hours away.

  6. Merrell? I've never heard of Merell trail shoes! I currently have Adidas, and they are very light, but the heel is very cushiony, and I cant' run in them.

  7. How great you met Meg! I've met many awesome bloggers but there's always room for more! Congrats to your sis on her first 10k. I made my sis run my first 5k with me many years ago. So much fun!

  8. I pretty much think chocolate and wine are healing for me. Maybe because they heal my soul and that's good enough for me.

  9. It's so nice when you get a chance to meet a blogger. Whew -- I have the blueberry thing covered as I put a huge handful on my oatmeal every morning. And of course, there is always chocolate. Congrats to your sister on her 10k. Soaking your feet in the ocean sounds like the perfect recovery too. Thanks for linking, Ana!

  10. How cool, is this the first time meeting Megan? Oh gosh I too can relate to the cost of shoes! There have been several I liked but wouldn't even try on cause of the price! Mizuno Prophecy comes to mind and they run about $200 just crazy!

    1. Yes, Tricia, First time I met Megan. We live close by, but have never seen each other.

I have a rule against shoes that cost more than $100!
