He Quit 5 Times

Image
I'm working on a Hershey Recap, and will have that for you soon. But today, I want to briefly share with you the times Roger quit training for the Hershey Half. I'm sharing this, because he ultimately went and completed the Half Marathon on Sunday, and beat his Half Marathon PR. Roger has been the most athletic person I have met. He did Cheerleading in High School, he taught gymnastics in his 20s, he has been doing and teaching aikido for over 20 years. When we met again* he had run 3 half marathons and a few 5Ks. He also swore to me that he was done with any running past 3 miles. (*I first met Roger in 2000, we stayed friends and reconnected in 2012) April 2016 During Training for the Marathon, Roger declared that he was completely done with running. He swore then that he would not run another mile after the marathon. He was tired of always being sore, always being tired and all the time that Marathon training took. May 2016 We ran the Kennett Run 5K, and he ran ...

This year, my sisters, niece and brother joined us f...

Friday Five- Hershey Half Goals

Image
I am so excited for the Hershey Half! Last year this was my first Half Marathon, and it was so scary! And now we are back for it! It's going to be awesome to be back! If you are reading this on a Friday Morning, it's likely I'm stuffing my face with pancakes right now! I'm not carb loading, that is my regular Friday off breakfast. Here are my Hershey Half 2016 Goals 1. Have fun! This is always my #1 Goal. 2 . See my Love Nugget have fun- He will be doing the kids run on Saturday night. I am way more excited than he is!   3. Time Goals- Hershey Half is Hilly. But I trained for hills. My time for Hershey last year was 2.06, so I think my goal will be to beat that time. I would be happy with a 2.03. 4. See Roger meet his time goal . Roger said to me that he wasn't doing the Half Marathon at least 6 times this last training season. He has been running faster the last 3 weeks, (which I told you before, has been driving me crazy!) 5. See...

Happy Birthday Twins

Image
Some 20+ years ago, I was in 6th grade. My mom was pregnant. We were all sure that she was having another girl. There were 4 of us, all girls and the thought of having a brother had never crossed our minds. We had plans for a little girl, we were looking for little girl clothes, picking names and toys. Then we woke up a Wednesday Morning to find out that my mom had given birth to 2 boys! We were all speechless! 2 boys? We kept asking my grandmother, and she kept saying "Yes, 2 boys!" We were told to go to school and we could go see our Mom and our brothers when we returned. I remember spending the entire day bragging that I had two baby brothers! My dad picked us up at school and we walked to the hospital to see my mom, and the boys. They were so tiny! They didn't have names yet, because we had not thought of names for boys, so for about 3 days, we called them Boy #1 and Boy #2. My brothers are twins, identical twins. Most people can't tell them apart. A...

Strange Dream- Weighing myself

Last week I have been so tired, that the dreams from the night before are non existent in my memory. Except for this short dream.   In my Dream... I was at the YMCA and was in the locker room to weight myself. The machine was old, and it needed me to put in a quarter to get my weight. Once the quarter had been inserted, I stepped on and the scale read 136. In my dream, that sounded like a strange number, higher than I remembered. But I looked at myself in the mirror and I looked the same. So I told myself that as long as I felt good and strong, the number on the scale didn't matter. I am going to be completely honest with you. I don't own a scale. I just don't believe that those numbers give me any relevant information . There is no benefit for me to know how much pressure the gravity is putting on me on any given day. I don't value myself by a number on that machine. Last time I weighted myself was at my Mom's house. The scale said 118. It was the ...

Linking up with these super awesome ladies today.     Let's get to the happenings of last week   Running Monday - 3 easy miles Thursday - 2 tempo mile Friday- 6 Tempo Miles Sunday - 8 easy long run miles   I know I did some core and weights, but I don't remember what days. Yes, it was that kind of week!   The start of fall, the lack of daylight and the cold make me really tired. And to add to that, my office last week was having a live audit plus, I needed to turn in 8 file audits. So  Monday , I wanted to go home and go to bed, not run 3 miles. Same for Friday . I woke up during both runs.     F...

Friday Five - Randoms

Image
Good Morning Virtual Friends!! How is everybody doing today? I hope your morning is off to a great start with hot coffee, tea or a beverage of your choice! I had to help out at the job fair this morning, so my socializing is done for the rest of the month! I've talked to people about their dogs, their children, their second job, their weekend plans and their shopping habits. Fun stuff! This week I'm bringing you the Five Random Things Friday 1. James Corden Performs with the Backstreet Boys- Back in 1999 I had a thing for boy bands, no shame! This made me laugh, because I agree with Mr. Corden, Boy bands need to have synchronized dancing and matching outfits! 2. My son only has 2 more soccer practices and 2 games , then we are free on weekends!! Until he wants to start another sport. 3. National Taco day was sometime this week, and guess what I have not had to eat once this week? Tacos!! how is that possible? There has been simply no time to stop and make ...

So, What Happened Yesterday?

Yesterday after seeing all the coverage of the Vice Presidential Debate, I was a annoyed and tired at the constant attacks on Mexican Immigrants by the Republican Party Presidential and VP Candidates. So I did a post on validating why my family and I are really great people who, regardless of what any republican say, are harder working and better citizens than the Orange man running for President. Then I deleted it . I deleted it, because I was mad. I was mad that I had to explain to myself again why this clowns are not bothering me. But they were bothering me, and I was trying to validate my family. But We don't need validation , we don't need to explain to anybody why we are here and how hard we work. We already know that. So Many thoughts!! I received a message from Megan that completely turned my day around. She reminded me that Donald Trump Does not represent the entire country. And that got me thinking that his hatred, or that of his followers doesn't matter to me...

The National Apple Harvest Festival 2016

Image
In recent years, Pumpkin Spice has been trying to make a claim on the official flavor for the fall, but for me, Fall in Pennsylvania is all about the Apples. So at this time of the year we make our way to Bigglerville Pa, for the National Apple Harvest Festival.   Event Website- http://www.appleharvest.com/ Entrance to the festival is $10 for adults, kids under 12 go in for free. We parked in a field a few miles away and took the bus in. My son loves riding the bus!   The Food   Although this is the Apple festival, and there is lots of apple related food, but not everything is apple flavor food. The NAHF can be best described as a food, crafts, and fun family activities. Every year I am disappointed that there is no apple cider donuts anywhere in the whole event.   Delicious things than can be found at the NAHF:   * Pit Beef sandwiches- made on the spot.     * Apple Panckakes- made fresh on the s...

Weekly Wrap And September Runfessions 10.2.16

Image
Good Morning world!! how is everybody doing today? I hope you had a fantastic weekend! Thank you   Holly and Tricia for hosting the Weekly Wrap post! Linking up with these super awesome ladies today. Also linking up with Marcia for September Runfessions. Work outs Wednesday: 1 hour of Zumba at the Y, and 4 tempo Miles. Friday: 9.3 at easy race pace Sunday: 10 miles On Monday I woke up with a sharp pain on my neck. By  Tuesday it still hurt bad, so I Runfess that I didn't feel like running, because of the pain on my neck. I made up by  dancing in the kitchen alone for about 45 minutes. It wasn't a work out, but I had fun. This was one of my dancing jams on Tuesday. The running and zumba on Wednesday  helped alleviate some of the pain on my neck. Last year, Roger and I were looking for a 15K race, but couldn't find one that was close by. So we did our own race, and called it We Are Rungry 15K . We buy a shirt and Roger orde...
