Training Week May 9th- May 15

Image
My son has run his first 5K! I am a very proud Momma! and could not stop telling him how happy and proud I was the entire weekend!   This week was a little exhausting, with little sun and chilly temperatures, but we had an awesome week of activity. Today I'm linking up with  Holly and Tricia for their Weekly Wrap post. Training Tuesday - 2 miles tempo run Wednesday - Zumba with Denise, 3 miles easy run, 20 minutes of weights. Saturday- Kennett Run 5K   On Tuesday the Baseball game went a little longer than it was supposed to, by about 10 minutes. I was supposed to do a 3 miles tempo run, but by the time I got home I was really tired, and very sleepy. But still put on my stuff and went for my fun, but cut it to 2 miles . Wednesday was another busy day at work. I planned my afternoon on the plan of doing zumba for 1 hour, run for 3 miles and weights, meaning I had my lunch, a snack and another small meal before leaving work. But a co-worker gav...

Post Marathon Plans

Image
The first Marathon is done! Training paid off and we finished it! Now, after two weeks of lollygagging and recovery, I'm ready to get back on those running / race goals for the rest of the year. I'm breaking down the goals by season, as training will be harder in the summer, because of school schedules, but for me the summer is 5K season, and hopefully a few 10Ks.. we will see. The rest of the Spring I have my annual 5K this weekend, the Kennett Run . This is a favorite race for me, it's challenging, but it's the 5K most of my family does. And this year... drum roll please... my son will be running the 5K! I am so excited for his first 5K ! Of course, he has no time goals, but I have told him to have fun, to run, jump, walk, dance, skip, whatever he needs to do to finish it. I'm willing to give him a piggy back ride, but only for a little bit. I'm looking at doing 2 5Ks on Memorial day weekend. I will have to register by Friday to get the early Regist...

Singing in the Car

Image
Hello Internet! It has been a super busy day at work, I have a stack of audits in my desk that need finished, but that I have been putting off, until I can't ignore them anymore... which is tomorrow... eww, they are staring at me, let me push them to the other desk. Anyway, I have been reading blogs today, but my mood has been all over the place and have not have anything to comment back, I only commented on my favorites... but shhh, don't tell each other who you are... it's our secret... But I do want to say that My son and I were doing the most amazing car performance to this songs on Sunday. We both LOVE Les Miserables and can sing almost any of the songs. This medley is totally lifting my mood, and reminding me that if Jean Veljean can make up a whole new life with stolen silver, I can finish this audit and get back to reading blogs.... or even more realistic, If Russell Crowe can get away with live singing one of the most epic songs in the musical world, I can ab...

Still Recovering ? or Just Being Lazy?

Image
I had a very slow week, and ate so much junk, and I feel gross. I started out this post complaining and whining that I hadn't run much, that I ate terribly, and that I was just aching to go do another race... but then I realized that the only one who can change all of those complaints is ME. So, off to better things. I did zumba and weights Monday. The rest of the week I was really tired and had very little time to do anything else. But we did have such a great time this week, that I will post about that instead. We went to see Captain America on Friday and after we went to the Lebanese Restaurant, and got lucky! There was going to be a belly dancer doing a performance! She was really good, made me jealous that I can't belly dance! Brother #2 graduated from Penn State this weekend! And we were off to PSU Saturday Morning, but not before a tiny bit of drama... I moved in with Roger back in October, but my Dad had never come to visit us... my family doesn't co...

Happy Mother's day!

Image
Follow my blog with Bloglovin   Happy Mother's Day! For mother's day weekend I want to share with you a few things I have learned about Motherhood since I've been a Mom... because some things I didn't appreciate before. 1. I didn't appreciate my mom's patience until I had my son . Craig Ferguson has said in his book and in his TV show, after having children, he learned to forgive his parents, I not only forgave my mom for dumb things I was holding against her, but appreciated her patience and love. 2. I have night vision ! After changing diapers, feeding a baby, and putting a toddler to bed, all in the dark, I now have night vision. 3. Giving birth and running a marathon are very similar . (When I say you, I really mean Me/I ) You start out all happy and excited for the journey, (pregnancy / training). You know you signed up for it, but some days it feels like it will all be impossible. You find yourself in pain for muscles you didn't know yo...

Happy Teachers Appreciation week!

Image
I know today is another holiday, but I'm going to have to stop all the fun and drinking right now, because I don't observe that Cinco holiday, and in Mexico, we don't even get off from school for that cinco day! But I do observe Teachers Appreciation week, and today I want to remember some of the AWESOME teachers in my life! Not many pictures, because some are teachers from my younger Smartphone-less days. I don't have many fond memories of most of my Elementary School teachers, but if I had to pick two favorites, I would say Maestro Lorezo, and Maestro Alfredo , because both were always nice to me and pushed me to do better than just getting by. Middle School A huge shout out to my Geography Teacher (she was only my teacher for 6 month, and for the life of me, I can't remember her name). Maestro Luis - He was a bit of a creeper first, but he always challenged me to do better at Math and Algebra. Maestro Quintana - he taught me Chemistry and back in...

Fear of Feedback

Image
First off, Happy Star Wars Day! May the 4th be With you... Second, if you don't like Star Wars, Welcome to Star Wars Geel Awareness day! I have run and trained with Roger for over a year, and weight training for almost 2 years. I call him my trainer/ Evil Running dictator, because he helps me with training, and never lets me get too comfy with my running, and pushes me to do better, and faster. The Evil dictator, comes in when he makes me run 3 miles in the rain and does not let me skip long runs, even after I offer ice cream. No, this was not the "Let's not run today" Ice cream. This was the "We are running a marathon tomorrow" ice cream. He gives me feedback on my races, based on my Garmin or Map My Run charts and numbers. And although some days it's hard to hear, his advice has helped me improve my speed. Like any human being, hearing criticism is not always easy, but I have learned to listen to it, digest it and work on improvi...

Tuesdays on The Run- Running Gear and Where I get My Stuff

Image
Today I'm linking -up with  Patty ,  Erika , and  Marcia  for the Running Gear and Where to get it link up. Tuesdays On The Run Link up I'm going to keep it totally real here... as I've said more times than anybody cares to hear, I'm a divorced mom, with shared custody of my son, so I'm on my own for all expenses for both of us. We are not starving, but you won't see me running to a Lululemon store anytime soon, or to many other expensive stores for that matter. Running can get to be pretty expensive solo sport, starting with shoes, fancy *blister preventing* socks, compression socks, race registrations, tech shirts, leggings, Nuun, sport bras... the list goes on, and prices add up. But I don't agree with needing expensive stuff to run. Running in Walmart shorts is just as efficient as running on Lululemon shorts. Here are some of my favorite places to buy gear for running, zumba and weigh work outs.   Favorites   Under...

Recovery Week and Runfessions

Image
Hello beautiful world! how is everybody doing today? I'm double dipping on link ups today! I missed Friday's Runfessions because I was off from work, and as much as I tried to read and post while hanging out with Roger, he demanded all of my morning attention. And my afternoon/ evening attention went to my son. I look total crazy, but I love this picture! I'm linking up with Marcia for the April Runfessions.  April Runfessions Also linking up with  Holly and Tricia for their Weekly Wrap post.     Anyway, enough with my life ramblings, and on to running/ training ramblings.   Monday - After the Gettysburg Marathon , went to work and had a busy rest day. I went in two hours late, because I didn't want to be rushing to get myself moving in the morning. My son, who on any weekday I have to drag out of bed at 6:50, was up and ready for life at 6:25 am! I let him watch morning cartoons, while I slowly got ready. I only recorded a ...
