I am a Marathon Finisher!

Good Morning World! How is everybody doing today? This morning I woke up with sore legs, and that reminded me that Today I'm a marathon Finisher!

Trying to not hit myself in the face with the medal, looking like I'm strangling myself!

Thank you all very much for all the positive comments and cyber support! I thought of your words as I was running the marathon! I will go back and respond to your comments, I promise.

I will comeback and do a proper recap, after I have caught up with some things at work, and I've had a little more time to rest and recover... right now I think I need a nap!

Both Roger and I finished the Gettysburg Marathon, one in more pain than the other, but we did those 26.2 Miles! For me it was an amazing experience, one that I hope to be able to accomplish again in my life!

My sisters came out and cheered for us, and met us at the finish line. They were amazing!! I love those girls so much! My little sister caught me at the end and held me while it all sunk in!

Quick recap of my week

Taper week
Monday - zumba and 2 miles of sprints/ and rest
Tuesday - Rest
Wednesday- Rest
Thursday- 3 easy miles
Friday- 2 mile walk
Saturday- Zumba
Sunday- Gettysburg Marathon

This week I'm linking up with Holly and Tricia for their Weekly Wrap post.

  12. Oh my gosh so many things to say. First of all, a HUGE congrats on your first marathon finish! Ride the high feeling for a long time, you deserve it!

Flat Ana + the colorful blanket = awesome!!! What was the bubble wand for?

I’ve done the National Anthem while GOING to the bathroom. Sorry America.

The pictures of the course are beautiful. I like how you said you soaked in the fact that you were running your first marathon!

I always take high 5s from little kids too! At the race on Sat. I saw the same little girl 3 times and go 3 high 5s! The last high 5 I got from her was the way up a hill and I told her if I didn’t make it up the hill now it was all her fault!

Your race recap had me laughing at so many parts. I could picture you chugging along singing songs while flipping off idiot drivers.

I can’t believe you did that jump after all those hills! And I am seriously impressed by you running such a hilly course. I have run marathons with hills, but not a marathon with the amount of hills at Gettysburg… not even close!

That is really shitty that their race description of the hills was not accurate. You should email the race director and give him some feedback. I wonder if it is the same RD as the first year they did it? I had been signed up because at the time I signed up, the course was listed as a loop. Then they changed it to an out and back. I asked for my money back because I had NO desire to run an out and back and they didn’t give it to me! I was very annoyed and I expressed my annoyance with the RD. I’m still really pissed about that and forgot about the incident until reading this!

And congratulations to Roger!!!! You must be so proud of him. Hey, if marathons were easy, everyone would do them.

I do not like that they were taking things down before all the runners came in. Those are the runners that REALLY deserve a great finish because they were out there for so long!

I loved reading your recap and congratulations again. YOU DID IT!

    1. Thank you Megan!

First, the bubble wand was in my bookpack, I had baseball earlier on Saturday and I take that book pack everywhere, but I don't always empty it from one place to the next.

I am emailing the RD, I didn't mind the hills as much as the poor description. They needed to advertise it as a tough race, and a challenge, but an awesome challenge. Also about the traffic for the last 3 miles and the food.

Thank you for taking the time to read the whole thing !! It means a lot to me !

  16. You are a Marathoner! Doesn't that sound just awesome saying it. What an accomplishment for you! The smile at the end tells it all, I'm so happy to see this. You know I think seeing other people so happy about their finish is almost better than my own. Enjoy your recovery you so deserved it!
